A mother is holding,
caressing her young with tender affection
and care form the world.
See how the baby rests
in the warmth of the mother’s assurances
to the child that no harm shall come to pass.
The radiance of the mother’s countenance
vibrates from her to her young.
Lovers holding, kissing, embracing,
going into an ecstatic rush of affection,
gesturing to each other, and speaking
sweet harmony of whispers of respect
and love for each other.
On the corner there a poor, helpless man,
a soul of despair.
You can see marks on his face
from the ravages of time.
A hand of hope comes and reaches out to him,
and he receives help.
He’s elevated to his full potential in life.
Hope, joy, peace and contentment
return to his face.
Another life is saved.
LOVE.

I love this poem. You capture love perfectly. I love the Mother/child description at the beginning. It provides a perfect contrast with the older man at the end. I love the positive ending! Great poem! |
