-If only you could read-

Remember the days
I would lie by your side
And look out of your stable
At the pink autumn sky
Remember the winters
We would go hacking in the cold
Everyone thought we were crazy
We froze but we were happy and lol’d
I was so proud of you that day
We passed by a bus
You’d never met anything so big
And you never made a fuss
I stopped you casually
and we let it pass
And I praised you and hugged you
For not being an ass
And remember the snow
By dear, it fell heavy
you were stuck in your stable
A lot of December
I would let you out though
To roll and to play
With me running by your side
We were happy those days
We used to do join up
I’d chase you and you’d run away
But no matter what mood you were in
You come back each day
When I turned my back
You would give me a nudge
And you had an annoying sense of humour
When you pulled down all your rugs
You had an awful habit
Of barging through your stable door
But one day I told you off right
And you did it no more
I’d sit on you while you graze
And I’d sometimes whistle a song
Those were the days
When we had an unbreakable bond
But something has happened
To you and to I
and I don’t know how to fix it
but damn I’m going to try
We can do some groundwork, I’ll be gentle
And you might just trust me again
And we can go back to better than before
And we can work together and be friends.

Never felt an affinity with horses myself but this poem really brings out the emotion you feel towards your horse and has enlightened me slightly as to what you horsey types experience! Cheers. :) Hope you get your bond back ok.
