Charcoal
Takes it back to white.
Black lines draw
Chalk
Raccoon eyes
And snowman noses
Will bring about change
And the smiles that can only be mastered
Like the monks
By children with small hands
Chalk
And big crayons.
On its side, a dog.
Charcoal
Proper color,
Strings string streams
For an egg,
Falling off
Chalk
The glorious ball
Tethered to the black dust round
World.
And only adding to the image.
In a negative
And some smoke
Charcoal
For a home
Marks the pupils,
Chalk
Eyelashes,
Forehead,
And saves a tree.
And gaps between teeth.
Revitalizes the spirit,
Of the industrial revolution,
Charcoal
Shows the end
Makes an egg,
Fills the winter air,
Gives it arms and hands,
Chalk
Legs and feet.
And new life.
Charcoal
New skin,
Shades the skin
New hair,
And adds fingers and toes.
New eyes,
New teeth,
Charcoal
Adds a new face,
Leaves the paper black.
Chalk

Here's the thing with this one. As you read down the poem, only read every other line (blank lines still count as lines), and it talks about filling the paper up with charcoal until it's nothing but black. Then you read it back up starting at the bottom and going every other line up and it talks about taking that overused black piece of paper and making it whit again with chalk. I think it's fine just to read every line running down it, but it's much cooler and more meaningful if you skip lines like this. Thanks for reading my poems. Thanks for your comments. Have a nice day and a good rest of your life. Butterat Zool. |
