Sweet Surrender

Contributed by irisblue on Wednesday, 26th January 2011 @ 05:35:10 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The ominous stillness engulfs the room and deafens my ears
amplifying my anger, my hollowness, my fears

I lay frozen in bed, fist clenched, heart pounding, lips tightly sealed.
The voice in my head screams out hoping he'll hear.

The tears start to fall penetrating my skin; yielding endless echoes that pellet my soul
What happened to the brave girl... the woman with fairytale dreams and significant goals?

Like Russian roulette playing a game with my life,
my disease taunts "this time will be different, this time it will be fine".

But just ONE drink and the game's over, time's up, I will die
Should I give up, let alcohol be my master or SURRENDER and let HIM be my guide?

Oh GOD I can feel you .............yes I feel some hope inside.

That was captivating. I assume it is about the battle against alcoholism. Giving up really is such sweet surrender, but also one of the worst things you can do for yourself.

Masterful outline and expose' on a crippling problem that I share with you. To know you chose God is inspiring to me.
