she said goodnight

drinking alone
moon a smokey
disk
walking home
with head-float
hatching snakes
her heart inside
a zero
with a turned back
dragging shadows
coveting solitude
half block away.

This is pretty deep. She drank alone, heads home alone, yet longs for the loneliness of home. You really don't know whether to applaud her or feel sorry for her. |

Hmmm...interesting. I like the images you stir up with this one and we do all need our solitude. I am, at times, happy in my solitude.
I also went somewhere else with this one though... whatever, whatever !!! is going on in "her" mind she is obviously & absolutely entitled to. It is her own, but walking alone at night? That could cause one to worry about her. Yep, I went there too.
Thanks,
Tim |

Dear ming,
This poem froze me after reading it once. After reading it twice my eyes stared straight ahead and didn't move. An unquestionable masterpiece. A poem that brings you There -- whether you ask to go or not. Nothing short of brilliant. -- flinthunter |
