Flightless Bird

Do her wings bear the weight of the burden.
Is that why she firmly holds ground.
Carelessly placed in a cage of sorrow.
Where billowing voices sound.
Blindly torn each time she’s unmasked.
As each answer remains obscure.
Faith in her wings will glide her to hope.
From darkness she soon hopes to abjure.
Poor little blue bird.
So lost in her mind.
Fighting past and present.
Hoping forgiveness she will find.
The sky calls her name in soothing ease.
Opens arms of undying love.
Beckoning her to join the clear blue.
That was so perfectly painted above.
Until the day her wings be spread.
Binds of pain restrain her from flight.
She shall remain the host of all her faults.
Hidden from the break of loves light.

A beautifully written poem. I liked how you used the bird as a metaphor for trapped emotions that just want to let go and be free and join wide world of the life-force. Well written. |
