We followed them early that morning
Mother and Child
The Leopard Family
The little boy as always
At that age
Tries to catch the mothers tail
AND THEN......OUT OF THE BLUE
A Roar and growl
That took the blood
From my skin
The Ranger told us to be quiet , sit still
We're about to witness a drama
A Drama no TV program can bring
The Female changed course
Ran like the wind
Fell in front of the brutal male leopard
As to say
Please don't hurt him
He's my only one
My emotions ran high
I Felt like getting of the land rover
And put the little boy
In my pocket
Safeguard him against the onslaught
Of this brutal monster
The Male ingored her pleading
Like yesterdays news
Walked straight to the little boy
Who's sitting under the old African tree
Round ears, Wide eyed
Oh My God
Please save Him
The next moment was pure bliss
A Lick in the face
The Male turned around a
And walked away
I Watched the little boy
And i'm sure i saw a wetness in his eyes
Or Did i confuse it with the wetness of my own
