Burn Eternal

selfstruggles

A painful discovery,
In a dream, I can't wake;
That kindness and wit
Do not bonds create.
Surrounded but empty,
Connected yet frayed;
The secret elusive,
To halt heart's dismay.
So strong yet so fragile,
Hopeful, though shaken;
In search for the answer
To finally awaken.
Turned dark by one's fear,
Doubts arise, faith evades;
Dream transformed to nightmare,
Gleam of light softly fades.
Dejection, regret,
These thoughts can encumber
One, seemingly trapped
In this unending slumber.
Convinced that true happiness
Exists but for few.
Restless in waiting
to be proven untrue.
But for now, dream in peace,
For one truth does inspire;
While hope's flame remains burning,
So too, heart's desire.

That was deep and very thoughtful, and expressive as you stated. I absolutely loved it. Please keep writing poems. An unending slumber... a great analogy. I am also better with the written word, than the spoken word. Sometimes I wish we all just wrote out thoughts instead of speaking them haha. |
