Silent she stays as those around talk
Her eyes anxiously watch the clock
Pulling her hair in a loose bun
She dozes of as everyone has fun
Alone she sits, afraid to talk
Somehow scared of a teen's mock
Every word chokes her death
Sadly, she tries to draw in a breath
Her mouth forms words in a twisted way
She was soon called names everyday
How she lives on, nobody knows
Each joke pricks her like a rose
Even her friends make fun of her voice
It's really not like they have a choice
When she gets home, she cries in her sleep
But when she wakes up, she doesn't make a peep
Her deadly lisp controls her heart
Her lisp is the thing that tears them apart
If only she could talk like the rest of them could
Maybe then she wouldn't hide under her hood

This write is so sad. Your friends don't deserve your friendship.
I'm so sorry that people can do that to you.
Big huggs, blessings, confidence,

Written most elegantly. You don't deserve that treatment. Kids can be cruel but pay them no mind! With the talent you have in writing it is everyone around you that is missing out by not stopping for a moment to listen to you! Great poem!
Wishing you strength! |

A very touching and very well written poem, kids can be so cruel, especially teenagers and they will pick on anything that makes you different(I was bullied because of my race). We should celebrate what makes us different/individuals your Impediment maybe one thing but I'd wager that your talent for writing is something else that distinguishes you from your peers.
Stay strong,
keep posting.

hi.. I've recently re-joined this site after many years and got drawn to this poem because of its name. Like you, I have a lisp since I was a child (now 35) and I've been sometimes ridiculed for it. I understand how you feel. I can offer two pieces of advice to you. One, get some new friends! (may not be as easy as it sounds).. and Two, find a strength of yours and start learning to feel good about that, bury your mind in the things you love and eventually you'll realise that the lisp is not even a factor in your life that is noticeable!
Take care and chin up! Love who you are because you were made to be one of a kind! |

It is not very nice of your friends to make fun of your lisp, and for everyone else it's just plain rude. Life is cruel, but find what you love, and ignore everything else as much you can. Happiness comes with time and devotion to love. |
