T'was it light that tricked my eye
When a shadow of you
Sat with me
Though his poise, unmistakable
His gentleness, unfakeable
His friendship, uncreatable
And uncreated
And with this it must be stated
His sorrow, unquenchable
Though t'was light that tricked my eye
My heart remained too wise
And yet was still elated
As all this and more endured
For a time ever unrelated
And we were unshakable
Just the bird song
And the coming of the green gable
