Lonely Wind.

The wind is howling like a heart
Pierced by the sharp blade of loneliness.
The trees are wagging chapped fingers
At the sodden vista of the moors
And the sky is stone scrubbed and weary from weeping.
The dog fox, no longer content
With the nearness of his vixen, is on the prowl,
Roaming the high hedged fields of Wales.
And now, just for a moment, the wind drops,
And drops, plunging the depths of silence.
In the void an owl calls from distant woods,
It's cry an all too brief temptation
Flashing through the throbbing night.
Then with a sudden gust, the wind erupts,
Consuming silence, screaming abuse,
Rising at last into a loneliness of it's own making.

That was one of the most beautiful poems i've read on this website. possibly one of your best. Very well written. The last line sealed it "a lonliness of its own making". Great write! I really enjoyed reading it. |

I agree with the other comment. This is perfectly written. This is the level of accuracy that I want to acheive one day. And incidently, this poem kinda describes why Ive always wanted to live in the countryside. I dont hear such life effirming things from my bedroom window. Just the cars. :-( |
