In Your Memory... I Will Always Remember

Contributed by scottstone on Saturday, 15th January 2011 @ 01:59:54 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

You were my friend since childhood
We came from different homes
My mom would tuck me in at night
But yours was never home

We would play school together
Or fly airplanes in the sky
Yet I hang my head in sorrow
At how soon you passed me by

Your clothes weren’t all that perfect
But still we never shed a tear
Yet you stumped me with your questions
How come my father isn’t here?

And still all I hear are questions
For such is all that there was left
When we laid you in your casket
And as you took that final breath

Why didn’t you know my heartache?
How come you had to leave?
If it was different would you save me?
From this world of evil I’m beneath?

And it was from this world of evil
To escape the noose they tied
As they jeered and mocked you to the grave
She slipped, she fell, she died

And only God knows all the sleepless nights
I never will reclaim
And so my one prayer goes unanswered
I wish you were here again

I wish for the love they never gave you
To a 15 year old girl
Who barely knew her father
And in hand-me-downs, was born into this world

I hope someday that I will see you
And your eyes will then be opened
Then the thoughts that plague my sleep
Can stay content to remain unspoken
