Parallel Dreams
I drifted off
on a hot summer day
the 5th of June
beneath the bungalow tree
the air was smooth
and the sun scorching hot!
but it was my thoughts
that had gone way off...
into a land, far, far away
somewhere I did not recognize
quite right away
but It was until I had met the king
his royal highness...do not forget his queen!
That my thoughts drifted back to the thought
this is my dream, and my dream it shall stay
so I walked around
for several hours to come
marveling the castles and plums upon the ground
the crickets that chirped although it was day
and the children who played until all went astray
It was magnificent 'oh anyone would say!
The stars that twinkled
and the moon who stayed all day
but it was short and I should have known
It was only a dream, and a dream it shall stay.

I liked it.
I don't critique. Hard to say what another poet is speaking of when they spin their tale. |
