To hold something precious in your hand
and be thankful for the comfort that it gives.
To never see it crumble like the sand
and convince yourself, perpetually it lives.
To lovingly treasure it and bear
the weight of it, and always tightly grasp.
To know that this thing it can't be shared
it lasts as long as it will last.
To reach a melancholy stage
and forget the treasure that you hold
to casually cause great rage
and watch your hand slowly unfold
to watch it roll and think it right
to let it fall and smash the ground
then realise this thing you hold
it dwarfs the phantom that you found.
To try to grab it as it falls
and watch it slip but then return
you hold it through the pain you caused
your hand keeps hold throughout the burn
the scars they form a perfect skin
from which you'll never let it fall
oh how thankful you are within
your folly did not lose it all....
