Salutation

Contributed by spike on Saturday, 25th December 2010 @ 01:34:02 AM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

hail to you unconquered Sun
on this, Sol Invictus Day
transmuted into Saviour’s birth
your light and warmth envelop the Earth
Natalis Invictus, your celebration
life to each and every nation
golden disced with wings of flight,
still reflecting in the night.

Deis Solis, the day of the Sun
is Sunday, the time of rest:
but December 25 is your day of birth
when the Queen of Heaven brought you forth
—the day that you increase your power,
lengthening with every hour
as Helios drives your chariot across the skies.

Old Sol, you shone long before believers,
and shine despite modern day deceivers:
so acolytes who know your story
continue to bask in radiant glory:
for those of us destined to die,
invincible orb, we salute you.

A beautiful greeting and affirmation of such an amazing phenomena described in wonderful rich detail to be left in the realm of only being able to imagine......as Helios drives your chariot across the sky.

A true artist at work painting the canvas with an out pour of creativity and originality. Smoldering imagery and wonderfully executed. A great piece of writing.
