You called her your “love”,
But assured me she’s just a friend.
I saw pictures of you holding her,
You should count your blessings that it wasn’t the end.
You cheated with a girl from Senior Week
And it completely broke my heart
You betrayed my trust
And expected for it not to tear us apart.
But we made it through and we were fine
Because you promised next year to stay at home
But now you’re talking of going again
And leaving me all alone
Do you hate me? Are we done?
Why do you want me to relive that pain?
You say you’re going no matter what
Well, cool, what the hell do you have to gain?
Some weed?
Some ****?
Your “love”
Naked in your bed?
Or is it someone new this year?
Some girl you’ll meet when you get there?
I’m confused and hurt that you don’t understand my pain,
Or is that you just don’t care?
This year you broke your promise
Like last year you broke my heart
The only thing now is,
I can’t promise THIS won’t tear us apart.

The passion and power behind these words assures me this is based on a true event. The poem itself is such a beautiful indulgence of anger and hurt and yet i can still see signs of love and forgiveness to a point.
You should be proud of your work. |
