In This Winter Room.

Contributed by cashfan1 on Tuesday, 21st December 2010 @ 05:01:13 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

In this winter room where I sit
With only the fire for company,
The clock's monotony is contagious,
Tick tock ticking away
The final moments of the day.
Beyond my window, in the back woods,
The owl is floating between trees and stars,
Her hooting cry withered by age and winter's icy blast.
And at my window the snow falls,
Anointing my loneliness with a soft sighing whisper.
And the clock ticks on, it's all knowing, all seeing smugness
Invades this warm smoky room.
Tick tock ticking away
The final moments of the day.
The flames of the fire dance with the glint in my eyes,
A shadow shifts in the embers.
And in a street far away from this winter room
Children are carol singing, their voices a sweet reminder
Of a time before loneliness.
I stoke the fire, hear the wind in the chimney, listen to the clock,
Tick tock ticking away
The final moments of this day.

I really like this poem!
It reminds me of an old grandfather clock that one of my neighbours used to have.

This is so cool
it's nice when you can relax
and
enjoy the simple things in life.
Good stuff
well done......

This jumped out;

'Anointing my loneliness with a soft sighing whisper.
And the clock ticks'

great. :)

A lot of thought and emotion put into this to form such a fine narrative.....nicely written.
