Standing at the crossroads of the train tracks
My lover just left blowing white dandelions
Hoping they'd trace his tracks
I hear the howling wind
And I hope it will carry him to me
In the train's whistle's melody
Remembering the times we would lay on the grass
Watching the clouds pass by like white dandelions
The seeds spelled out "I love You" and so did your lips
And you promised you'd never leave my side
And we'd sit here and watch the dandelions sway in the wind
We said we'd stay here until the white dandelions got lost in snow
And wait until they once again began to grow
But the time grows longer as I wait for your train to pass by
It's becoming clearer that your train may never come
Memories of you stick to my soles like gum
It's been a year and I realize your train will never arrive
I'm laying on the tracks no longer wishing to be alive
They found my body last night strung across the thick iron road
But they didn't understand
Why there was a white dandelion wrapped inside my lifeless hand.
