A familiar gloom,
Fills my room,
I try to stay positive,
And remember what it is,
You see in me.
I feel so worthless,
A washed up mess,
Then I see you smile at me,
Your presence sets me free,
I can believe.
My soul is inspired,
I've got what you required,
And you must realise me,
And the patterns we weave,
Between you and me,
Create eternity.
But I can't touch you,
And I can't love you,
'cause you're not meant for me,
If only you could see,
The heart of me.
I pour my heart and soul into these pages,
As many have through the ages,
Talk of loves lost and found,
My hope run aground,
I return without a sound,
My conviction narrowed,
My brow is furrowed,
With the weight of expectancy.
Anticipation,
Mute elation,
Why can't you see me,
My life in tatters,
'cause all that matters,
Is given yet not received.
I've found my calling,
Is alive and toiling,
In loves great sea,
A behemoth from the deep,
It writhes and struggles,
And demands of us,
That we only see,
We are able,
To know this fable,
To set this story free.
Yet you resist,
And I persist,
See the slate is clean,
Enoughs been said,
And I regret,
Through clarity I misled,
And so it's said,
The fishes fed,
The bones have been picked clean,
Yet one thing remains,
Are you the same,
Or will you ever be.
