A Prayer for Christmas

Contributed by northernlights on Tuesday, 14th December 2010 @ 12:26:31 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I bring a flame of Peace.

How can you judge the heart of another?
When you kill the child and maim the mother!
Brave men fought for our freedom in each world war,
Does a defensible reason not need to matter any more!

I bring a flame of Peace.

Each man of faith walks his path for a reason.
Why not let that be Peace to reflect this season?
Is it braver or stronger to have the right to take life?
Or to stand against the tide and lay down your knife.

I bring a flame of Peace.

Are you more of a person to be seen to attack the weak?
When you have the strongest arms to protect the meek.
Do you wear the robes of power or position?
Yet do not feel the weight of every decision!

I bring a flame of Peace.

We are here for only the length of a sigh,
A few small seconds before death is nigh.
So why not stem the tide of anger and rage?
Bringing change to words on History’s page.

I bring a flame of Peace.

No matter which path you have chosen to follow,
Self righteous destruction a bitter pill to swallow!
Life is too precious something we should all protect,
Each and every life on this earth deserves our respect!

I bring a flame of Peace.

I bring a flame of Peace.

These are some very powerful words. I luv how you`repeat this.
Definitely a masterpiece.
You need to send this one to all our congress man and president. They are so self centered that it would probably just roll off them like water on a ducks back.
Awesome.
Huggs, blessings,
emy

A powerful write with a hand full of magic laying down heart and soul. Beautiful and something all should read. The lines are moving and are stirring from start to finish. Emotional and a wonderful piece of poetry.

I wasn't too sure when I saw the title(christmas isn't my favourite subject). But this is a wonderful write with so much truth in it.One of my pet hates is peoples lack of empathy.
