a Rant of the Oppressed Experimentalist

Contributed by missAmeteur on Monday, 6th December 2010 @ 02:55:32 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Let this poem write itself
I’m putting my thoughts upon a shelf
Fear has clouded a creative mind
For what will be accepted and what some will find
Uncalled for, Unclean, Uncanny, Unjust
My originality replaced with rust
And all will to write turns to dust
Who with my lyrics can I ever trust?

For if I write a crooked line
Are my characters thoughts replaced with mine?
Because I thought what authors were supposed to do
Was make up stories that weren’t always true
I suppose I believed what I wrote could be
An invention and not my reality
But now it is clear, I obviously see
That my fictional character just must be me

And in a place I thought was secure
I wrote in a style that I was not so sure
My pen could pull off, but I thought I’d attempt
Only to find that the topic was exempt
That I’m supposed to write like all the rest
It was not for fun, it was a test
My Words, my Script has been oppressed
The false lines on my paper I simply detest

I really liked this...a poetry about the process of writing poetry and trying to let go of the inhibitions...I faced this as well...but whatever comes to ur mind, just let it out becoz then you make space for new creative energy to flow in...good write!!

good write.. Very nicely portrayed emotions, the tone of indignation is apparent.. But u have managed to put up good question and thoughts about the process of writing.. Nice piece of work..

Very biting. It makes me picture you squashing your teacher (kind of like a bug) and then turning around with a smirk on your face and saying, "Sorry, were you there? I didn't see." I enjoyed it.
