Into the abyss I shall wander,
Walking the silent path,
My search for love does confine me
Until death’s hand I do grasp.
Sound… it reverberates around me,
Deep inside these empty halls.
Freedom… it tries to evade me,
Behind these proverbial walls.
Depression it floats close nearby,
Trying to start that sad spiral,
Perhaps one day it will kill me,
But today I will fight for survival.

A very profound statement, "humans need sadness". Your poem does a good job in handing over this reality. But your statement before your poem is a poem itself. Where is this sadness from? Why did G-d allow for us to be constantly said? Surely, he has a very good purpose. What if we could get a handle on this purpose. What if we could use it to serve ourselves and G-d at the same time. For example, you're in a state of depression, walking in the street a poor begger puts out his hand. You are very quick to respond because of the sadness now enveloping you. Maybe that's a part of why He allowed your sadness to be carried to work that day, giving you an opportunity to remove some of it from your heavy heart and at the same time to be His agent in showing pity and mercy sustaining this homeless begger with your few coins?
Thanks for letting me ramble.
A really well written poem you have here
and I thank you, for the share!

"Freedom… it tries to evade me,
Behind these proverbial walls." |
