Through the icy cold of late November
The sombre Sunday comes.
On the outer reaches of the lake
The sodden ducks are trumpeting a fanfare for morning.
The rain, icy daggers sharpened by dark clouds,
Shatters the stillness, the smoothness of the water,
Bouncing off the ducks who shriek with joy.
And I stand and watch, as content as any duck,
At each side of me the dogs stand,
Still silent statues in the lonliness.
From over the hill the first church bells echo,
A snippet of a half remembered dream, a long forgotten memory.
And on a far distant mountain road
A car's muted progress is smothered by a dog barking.
The fields are stirring under horizons made sad by Sunday,
And the ducks glide across water, still content,
Still trumpeting a fanfare for morning.

Relaxation therapy described beautifully. The way you paint a setting is awesome and a joy to read. Your words bring the reader in close and this was another fine piece.
