NO ONE THERE........

Contributed by emystar on Wednesday, 24th November 2010 @ 05:50:34 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

As she came to her senses, still
trembling,
Was it a dream, she really didn't know.
Oreo, her dog lay at her feet, guarding
endlessly..
Oreo, my friend, you will never go.

She woke up trembling, searched
for
Someone to hold onto for just a hug.
The family home is so empty,
Dad's long gone, Not even a
comfy rug.

Oreo,
You don't ask for much but a
hugg.
Stinky and precious lay there
too.
All three just happy to snuggle at
her feet.

Now solitude don't bother her much.
Being alone she can deal with, see?
But once in a blue moon, fear
comes by.
It grips her heart, she feels a bit
lonely.

She spent her good years tending
to others.
She never ask for any thing in
return.
They were helpless, needed some one
to care.
Once in a minute or two her
heart yearns.

It's a very nice poem emy...

however, as a medical professional *unemployed* :[
and as a human being, i feel compelled to remind you that there is always someone there for you (even if you don't know it) and there is always a way to get out of the house and to get the social interaction that you need, no matter how old or disabled a person is.

If someone is bed ridden, they can invite others over (home health nurses can organize such events ), and there are many avenues for the elderly, buses and other programs to help provide social interaction and entertainment.

Never give up. Not until your last breath.

I'll get off the pedestal now. ^_^
always, abraham

A touching write that highlights growing old and the possibility that towards the end it may be a lonely road. From your words and imagery I can feel and picture the loneliness throughout this passage and you did well to get those feelings across. Great Job!
