The One

Topic: LovePoetry

Struck by an arrow; Cupid's very best.
My heart and mind consumed under arrest
In all her form she's heaven to the Gods,
In her very own league, defying all odds.

Perfection, like beauty, resides in the (be)holders eye,
Dictionary definition - but a cloud in the sky.
Proof of perfection, she indeed is to me;
To the lock encaging my soul she holds the one ultimate key.

Time in her company, no better can be spent;
A smile upon my face, the thought never fails to present.
The world to me, she undoubtedly does mean.
In every sense the most beautiful woman, if ever I’ve seen.

Not a moment goes by without her in my thoughts,
The biggest fish it remains.. Unsure whether I've caught.
With her by my side, life would be complete
Cement I am now, with her certain/solid concrete.

For her I care more than I do for myself,
The gift of her love, there exists no more fulfilling wealth.
The time does near. These written words shall be spoken.
Heart truly contented, or irreparably broken.

In a woman, man could nothing more ask;
In this world or otherwise, no worthy competition are cast.
Superlatives fall short, as all others to her do;
For (me) she is the one. There is nothing more true.

Love is a mountain; the descent instils fear.
If she loves me not, I'll be crushed. Devoid of all care.
Rejection, dashed hope.. Engulfed in dispair.
The cards I'll be dealt.. Suspense unsavoury.. So hard to bear.

The thought of no possibility.. Our lives we won't share,
Inside it does kill me, outwardly bring me to tears.
Feelings so deep, the ascent oh so steep,
Through it much we invest.. Feelings hard to surpress.

Regret oh so terrible, in life, chances we must take.
For one chance is all we have, dissapointments we must shake.
Easy not always, very often a test.
A positive outlook, always is best.

Two ends of a spectrum. If she loves me, I'm blessed.
World's happiest I'd be, no other man could contest.
To my word I shall stick. This one chance I shall take.
I hope above hope.. that she feels the same way.

In saying this, I do, very much understate.
In fact, from this very hope, I wish never to wake.
My heart full of love, upon which engraved is her name.
This heart of which I speak, I refuse to believe she would break.

I pray I am to her, as she is to me.
With her on my arm, poor, I could never be.
And, as she does for me, I hope too i also possess the sole key
To her wonderful heart/soul, truly setting her free.

For one to love her more than I.. Elusive, might she try, she'll certainly never find.
Science and Shakespeare concur that in the mind, love is blind;
But I hope she one day will see, best for her who'll be.
For forever I would shine no less bright than the sun, if she should profess to me, that I am her one.

Such a beautifully constructed poem. You took me on a very long journey and I could feel every emotion that was being expressed. I am going through very similiar circumstances right now, though I think mine will have no happy ending in sight, I hope you will be able to share your love with this person.
