The Abundance Of Solitude.

Contributed by cashfan1 on Tuesday, 23rd November 2010 @ 02:53:38 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The abundance of solitude on the hill
Flatters my mind.
The wind is fluting through the still valley
And the first snow has arrived,
Soft plump flakes fluttering in the sky,
Confetti tossed by winter's hand.
The distant hill tops are illuminated gold and brown
By a moon entering the lonliness.
Sweeping aside stars, hypnotising the snowflakes
That pause like a startled deer
Caught in the headlights of it's smile.
The trees are naked and shivering, the owl contemplates,
A dog fox barks, a harsh echo that mingles with the wind,
Rising to a crescendo of earth music.
The snow is falling faster now and the solitude is all mine.

There is a tranquility as snow falls, something you want to capture and have all to yourself......solitude is all mine, and it is all else that is happening around that makes that so special, you have captured this, leaving a warm familiar contentedness, lovely write Dennis

When I read... "By a moon entering the loneliness.
Sweeping aside stars, hypnotizing the snowflakes
That pause like a startled deer
Caught in the headlights of it's smile".... I pictured time stopping and snowflakes standing still with the moon lighting them up in the sky. Absolutely beautiful imagery. I really enjoyed it. A very serene poem.

Wonderful,I was there with you.Living in north Wales the hills and mountains are my refuge also.I agree the solitude you feel when it snows is fantastic it's only rivaled by when the Welsh mist descends.
