Each Sunday we would meet for five- a- side.
We won 2-0 the week his mother died.
I guess we find our peace in different ways.
There were no prayers or tears,
but he cleared a couple of chances
off the line.
Then, at full time,
we didn’t talk it over.
Just an awkward ‘sorry’
with a firm hand on the shoulder.
And for his second pint
I paid the two pounds, twenty pence.
We won 2-0.
He played, as ever, in defence.

This a great read. The way its written and how the lines have such heavy hearts you can't but feel a wave of emotion from reading this over. Awesome job!
