The Lights are on but no-one is at Home!

Contributed by northernlights on Wednesday, 17th November 2010 @ 08:37:34 PM in AEST
Topic: insomniac

And the world stands still and the senses
Join the ear in a numbness of relentless monotone buzzing.
The voice in husky nasal tones breaks the tedium of early hours,
Hours and hours where the mind is robbed of dream, of being
Of refreshing rest and relaxation.
And body sits in slumped resignation whilst hands support
A heavy head that tilts.
And fingers caress mouth with squashed lip crushing clenched
Pressure, only the sharpness of elbow to
Keep flesh from curling,folding.
Preventing head from the elastic band of insomnia pulling
It knee wards
Weighted like a ten pin bowling ball
And the hands are glued to the keyboard
With tiny signs of life as fingers
Type and eyes prise open.
Stomach whines
All is bleary
And i
Have
Squeezed
The
Last drop
Of wakefulness
Onto
The
Page
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I like the style of this write and how clever it is. The imagery is smart and how you ended the poem was a nice touch.

Preventing head from the elastic band of insomnia pulling
It knee wards

Great line. Well done.
