Steven's Story

Contributed by scottstone on Tuesday, 16th November 2010 @ 04:27:08 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Steven was a poor boy
In every single way
If he told you his life story
Then this is what it would say

I barely knew my father
He raped a little girl
I wish that things were different
In this crazy messed up world

My mom she tried the hardest
She did the best she could
Two jobs to make the ends meet
Yet my clothes didn’t fit so good

As for my little sister
Fifteen years didn’t seem so long
Your death left me much weaker
Than the noose you hung upon

I saw you’re stiffening body
I held your lifeless arms
I wished they never made fun of you
I couldn’t keep you safe from harm

They said the medicine would heal me
But I die a bit each day
I saw them put you in that casket
And yet your face won’t go away

And yet your bullies couldn’t face you
To them you never were
But to me you’re all that’s innocent
In a crazy messed up world

This is my teenage story
It haunts me everyday
And to be loved is all I wanted
Somehow it simply slipped away

This is very, very, very sad but you did a great job writing it.
God bless you for writing this.
Big huggs, prayer,
emy

Sad story, indeed.

Why does the poem change to address the sister instead of the reader part way through? Seems odd to me. Also there's a typo or something at "I saw you're stiffening body". It should be "your", as in the next line.
