Phantom Fire

The spray lifts its aromatic mask, the fire burns to glowing rubies, and the painful memories fade to make room for better days.... for musings that the circle will have a different end.
That the path will lead to green pastures, morning coffee, and a peaceful rest
and not to streets littered with empty bags
silent good mornings to that strange smell in bed
and nods interrupted by sweat showers and spasms.
Are there first glance hypocrisies? Those impossible dualities that are reversed to possibility by the few? In a world where yin breathes through the lungs of yang, does hedonism always have an equal shadow of misery?
Can one greet the sun with a grin inspired by skag, or do corrupted veins brand their bearer a common junkie doomed to chasing a single ember through dark days and darker nights, searching for the phantom fire.

Sharp and the imagery is smart. I enjoyed this because it poses questions to the reader. An intelligent write.
