Two Lost Dogs.

The search is on
For two lost dogs
Long since gone
Where they've gone we do not know
So we search the places
They like to go.
Out in the meadows past swaying trees
We toss their names
Into the breeze
Searched the hedgerows but still never found
Sight nor sound
Of either roughish hound.
So it's back to the house to rest our feet
And admit this time
That we are beat
Some two hours came and went
And then a scratching at the door
And there they were tired and spent
So we washed them down in the shower's spray
And cursed them both
For going a stray.

Outstanding imagery that is food for the soul. This piece was full of warmth and a genuine reminder of how great dogs can be and a pain at times, lol. Fantastic writing!
