I'll not lay down and die!

Contributed by brasco on Wednesday, 27th October 2010 @ 05:35:48 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

I’ll not lay down and die
Succumb to evil and its sway
I’ll shake off rigor where I lie
And rise to live another day

I have no power of my own
To claw free of mournful grave
But I know a Man upon a Throne
I’ll give my heart for Him to save

He reaches down to depths unknown
Pulls me back from the brink
My wretchedness before me shown
Of His loving grace I think

What a Lord to travel far
Lay down and die in my stead
To glimpse Heaven as a star
Strength to rise from sick bed

Live life like I cheated death
With mercy, honor, and grace
Carry His word on every breath
My countenance a likeness of His face

My character aligned with His will
To preach and teach of His love
May others come and glean their fill
Witness His saving grace above

If joy can flow through icy vein
And blackened heart, beat true
If pure words can form in idle brain
I give both heart and mind to You

For I’ll not lay down and die
Succumb to evil and its sway
Mournful tears to joyful cry
You the potter; I the clay
