Once a teacher was expected to teach;
now a teacher is told not to reach.
Teachers of the past were respected;
now learning is being neglected.
Teachers were allowed to inspire;
now they are forced to put out fires.
Teachers must teach to the test;
Individual thinking will lead to arrests.
Teachers were allowed to care;
now all they can do is stare.
Teachers were allowed rights;
now freedom is nowhere in sight.
Teachers aren’t allowed to be human beings.

Now learning is being neglected.....I agree whole heartedly and I think the job of a teacher nowadays is nigh on impossible and undervalued, I am glad that you have given a voice to all in this situation with the same frustration |

Its such a shame that something as important as teaching our youth is taken for granted and as northernlights said is sadly undervalued. I really enjoyed reading this. I also like the title you chose. Well done.

Society these days is bound so tightly by imposed rules that individuality is stifled.
Are we all to become part of one big machine ?
Is that really what they want ?
Hopefully not.
