On fertility, the future and futility

Today I cried
Not for innocence lost
For that was sold long ago
like a pawn-shop diamond
Not for love lost
That's a lie I can't believe
Because every harsh word heard
treats love worse than a 50cent hooker
No. Not for love or innocence
Not for all of the heartbreak in the world
Not for any of that...no
today, I cried for the children
Yes, our very reasons for existence
They are inheriting all of this
Hatred, in the name of god
Death, in the name of peace
Attrocities, for the sake of a dollar
And I don't know how to protect even my own from it
They deserve so much more and better
So, what can I do
I cried
today

So true my friend.
You did a great job of getting this across to the reader. If more people were like you then things would change some.
Great write.
huggs, blessings,

This should be a famous quote: every harsh word heard
treats love worse than a 50cent hooker Love that line!
As for the poem...the "all" of it> *sighs*
Guess that's all you can do at times...cry. You do indeed get to inherit...all of this. :(
Well written.

To potentialoet, emystar, timotheus and all who have read,
I am being held captive by the whims of errant electronics. Those troublesome trappings known to everyone as computerized equipment are refusing to allow me to personally thank each for taking the time to read and for those kind words expressed by the aforementioned.
Please forgive the generalized approach. I can barely access this site. I can comment directly on something shared yet not reply to comments on my own rantings.
Thank you. |
