THE POTTER!

When we are the weakest,
We are like lumps of clay,
That the potter must tread down,
To make great art to display.
A statue is chiseled,
Out of nothing but rock.
But he who does the chipping,
Sees inside what will be wrought.
A sculptor finds beauty,
Not yet obvious to me.
But he doesn’t stop his whittling,
Till the treasure’s all it can be!
A potter, a chiseler, a sculptor.
These things I know I’m not today.
But thank you Lord for choosing,
To let me be your hunk of clay!

Good to see a Christian poem that reflects the humble state that man is in, and how God rains his mercy down on us. |

So true! How wonderfully you use the potter/clay metaphor in this poem. It reminds me of that song "The Potter's Hand". God molds us, as long as we are His child, washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. |
