Salvation

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

You blink those eyes, filled with fear
a blazing orange, getting deeper
towards your pupil.
In the reflection, I see my face.

A white dress, a straw sunhat, playing amongst the violets
the tumbling clouds, rolling over the hills
you pick one from the sky
and fold it into my dress.

I smile at you, a toothy grin, eyes squinting
as if they too, were filled with fire
and I put my arms around you
and nestle my head into your chest.

The reflection changes to one of me
standing on the edge of a cliff
casting my arms into a turblent sea,
drowning my existence.

You told me, you would keep talking
so that I would have to stay forever
but when you ran out of air and paused,
I took my final breath

and as I fell I saw those eyes, thick with passionate fire.
constricted pupils,
trembling whites,
you lashed out like a tiger.

Grabbing my hand from over the cliff,
you saved me through the madness of your love.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
