You Are Who You Are

Contributed by TheWildBeliever on Sunday, 26th September 2010 @ 01:53:54 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You can make all the promises in the world,
Till the day we die, and the truth unfurls,
Sit there and tell me things won’t be the same
But I won’t stand for this ridiculous game
Shoulder to shoulder, side by side,
Your still there, so don’t try to hide.
Run so quickly, as fast as you can,
But this is the truth you must understand
You cannot become another of your own
You are who you are till your skin’s cold as stone
Do what you will, but just know this,
If it is not you, do not make that promise
These words are here, and here to stay
For you said them now and said them today
What you speak you can’t unsay
Now you fight with those words, on this battle array
But said it or not, those words were true
For they are but the description of you
Words you say, words you hide
They are who you are
Deep on the inside

Some people are never satisfied with who they are or what they look like so the try to escape. I like this poem.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
