Freedom Of Voice

Topic: MiscPoems

Turn it around, show it to me from the other side
How can I tell when you've told the truth or if you've lied
How do you pretend it's a game to laugh about
Don't you know you've filled my heart with doubt?
It's Not a joke, not funny that you broke my heart
There's nothing hilarious about tearing my soul apart
But I believe that if some magic elf would come along
Chanting a spell, humming a tune, waving his magic wand
Then I could deal with whatever you have in store
Because after he's gone, I won't have to care no more
Then you will see, though my heart lays still upon the ground
It's true what they say, what goes around comes around
(CHORUS)
Now it's my turn to live
To love this girl with all I am
It's my turn to be
To do the things I know i can
To search for my dreams
Then dig them all out
Rid myself of all the doubt you caused me
It's my time to be free
You know - I can't believe you even had the audacity
To be with the one who won't love you half as much as me
Although I see now it's not who you know but what you do
That determines the ease with how well you fit the shoe
I know in time i'll laugh at this that made me cry
And pay thanks to the stars that I had the voice to say goodbye
That I found the strength to disbelieve the words you said
And chose to become someone, unaided by you instead
I will look in the mirror at the woman i've become and see
That NOTHING you say will again dull the need in me
I'm gonna live my own life - now that I know I can
Enjoy what i have & be proud of just who I am.

Nice words....strong emotion.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
