I am consumed by a sadness.
For now my mornings are a little darker,
The autumn mist more reluctant
To lift from the yellowing fields of my mind.
So I recall you as I last saw you,
Sat in a chair by the window,
Field glasses pointed at the distant mountain.
And you sat enraptured by the hang gliders
As they rushed off the edge of the world
And hung in mid air between sky and earth
With not a thought, not a care, to disrupt their solitude.
But alas no more, for you have secumbed to times displeasure
And I am left reeling by your demise.
For I recall all the times that death's dark shadow called,
Knocked at the door of your soul,
And always you dismissed it with a few choice words
And an unbreakable resolve to go on living.
So now, broken by emotion I dare not display,
I am left to reconcile your passing
With the world you've left behind.

| Let me start by saying I am so sorry for your loss! Losing someone close to you is hard and I know there are no words I can say to make it better. Great poem, full of emotion! Good Job! |
