Moon pie and Mountain Dew...

Contributed by pinkunicornoctober on Thursday, 9th September 2010 @ 06:00:39 AM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

I watched you foolishly today,
Like a stalker I hid in the bushes,
Looking, waiting-
Cracking up at the things ya'll had to say,
Between bites of Moon Pie and Mountain Dew.
I know it could never taste as sweet,
As the cupcakes we devoured that afternoon,
And things would only grow more bitter if she knew,
She is second best,
I'm the one you really want there with you.
And you were at my Granny's house last night,
Saying you needed me to hold you tight,
Like I used to do,
When I was in-love with you,
But now those days are far out of sight.
Though at times I think I need you too,
Then I realize our relationship is screwed,
You don't want me anymore than I want you,
And trust me it's not very much,
Because you talk to loud,
I have to scream to drown you out,
And my throat still hurts from our last round.
But still at times I have to kiss your lips,
Just to remind you what you feel is real,
I guess giving you false hope,
Somehow makes me whole,
And for some reason I laugh until I cry,
Knowing that I'm hurting you.
And it hurts me too,
Seeing you with this little slut,
But the way I treat you,
I owe you this much,
So I'll just go back home,
And not attack you both right now,
I'll just **** you out later,
Because I know you'll be at my Granny's house...

Now this is an american love story. Something just melts my heart when I see 'ya'll', moon pie and mountain dew. I had a mountain dew energy drink the other day (real mountain dew never sold over in England, unfortunately) and I can attest to the fact that it's like the juice of happiness. i even included it in a previous poem, so it was nice to see it here. A nice poem, in your next one try to up the Americana ever further, please?
