My eyes are constricted
tortured day to day
the violence feasts on the innocents
happy meals are left a stray.
How low, does this well go...
My mind sinks in concrete sands
families wander by,
"Do not feed the animals"
is what their imaginations compose
I tend to my blood stained hands,
which fail to grasp the pain I've inflicted
I've been banished to the wolves
their fierce nature takes it's fungal hold,
My prison is this life,
yet I struggle to remain,
attention deficit is how the sirens rush by
the suites criticize, and assign the blame.
The world doesn’t acknowledge my presence
I’m a myth, an alienated statistic
I’m less than human, my odor is repellent
and only flies take such suicidal breathes,
My tears have journeyed many miles
through the cracks and valleys I call my cheeks
they will never reach any destination
and I'll always be watching cars,
I have grown immune to the suffering
and all hope I've ever held
lies vacant in the past.

Some really powerful and evocative lines in this.
Hard to pick one that stands out above the others as they all flow together so perfectly well.
I would be more than proud to have written one as good as that.

Loss of hope is probably the most tragic human condition. |
