several thousand nights

Topic:
abstract

mute doors
daring me
blithely
incorporated
as an escape
hatch
absorbing pain
like a bead
of amber
hiding keys
collecting
words
improbable
incoherent
as a verbless
sentence
unseeable
as the wall
rises
higher
again
and
again.

Wow! No takers yet? Well let me be the first to jump in. . .
ming, this is truly so sedutive. . . so alluring. . . as tempting as the words are, they pale in comparison to the emphasis that the spaces in between bring out. Admittedly, I love how your mind works & so I find myself in awe & very pleased to be admiring your words. . . again & again. . .

I always say that my poetry has an 'american' feel, but your work most certainly does. This might sound ridiculous seeing as you are 100% authentic American, but this identity REALLY comes through in your poetry. You work could easily relate to Bukowski or Todd Moore (who I've just read recently).
As for this poem specifically, I especially liked 'absorbing pain/ like a bead/ of amber/ hiding keys', some fantastic imagery there.

P.S. Have you ever considered doing a co-write with elle? I think your styles would really compliment each other. |
