High pale cheekbones glisten in the moonlight,
As he silently stalks his prey.
He moves lightly, yet swiftly,
So to beat the light of day.
Down one dark alley, and to the next,
He creeps behind the vulnerable one.
He prepares to feed on her,
While glancing at the rising sun.
His lips quiver and he bares his fangs at the
Shortage of breath and the sweet smell of fear,
That which grew intensely
The more he grew near.
Faster than a cry could escape her lips,
He took her from behind.
His teeth sunk in to the flesh of her neck,
And the coppery taste of blood vanquished his mind.
The beating of their synchronized hearts slowed,
Steady as a beating drum,
As he tried to drain her of life and existence,
Taking of blood a generous sum.
He closed his eyes in his own negligence.
And let her body fall to his feet.
In all his concentration, he'd forgotten the sun,
And was now feeling the heat.
He raised white bony fingers to the heavens,
Trying to block the Vampire's worst foe.
But in failing, crumbled to dust.
Now I tell this tale of woe.
For just before he died that second time,
Not paying much attention to day break,
The girl at his feet stirred,
And he had no time to realize his mistake.
The dawn took him then,
And the girl rose ever so slowly due to lack of strength.
She hurried off down the dark alley stumbling,
Shouting this anecdote of great length.
That once innocent victim tells this tale, still today
Despite the fact that the story is primordial.
How is that conceivable, you say?
Well, it is I who am immortal.

oohhh... cold chills... this was great! I have a thing for vampires too... there's just something about what lurks in the edge of reality and fiction... in the shadows of the mind... it intrigues all of us, even if some of us won't admit it! This was great!

This is an amazing work of art, a tribute completely worthy of those fascinating creatures that we imagine lurking in the shadows of the night. I really really like this piece. Keep writing. Butterat Zool. |
