Confession of an addict

Contributed by eastboyez on Tuesday, 24th August 2010 @ 12:05:53 AM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

I abuse my body, I know
Its gonna show, show very slow

Coz I don't do drugs, they do me
I run away but they are always onto me

I know its not right, its just not me
But without them I know I just wouldn't be me

They pick me up when am low
Down is my up,hell feels like home

I know it will end, end with my end
I just miss the days when I didn't have to pretend

When coke was to drink and grass to play
When acid was in the lab and drugs were at bay.

I loved the ending:
"When coke was to drink and grass was to play,
when acid was in the lab and drugs were at bay."

Sounds like you don't really like the life you're living,
but you can't live without the drugs. I know. I've been
there and I'm 90 days clean exactly today. You should
consider joining me.

-Kara

P.S. This reminds me of a piece I also wrote about addiction. Same thoughts.

Addiction in all it's guises is a wicked beast to tame. You however deal with the subject head on and with sensitivity. A splendid piece of writing.

Addiction is a mother-you know what i'm trying to say. Keep writing, sometimes that's all you got to fight those mind games.

I've felt your pain. Keep writing, and check out Narcotics Anonymous- both have saved my life!
