Was the teashirt logo meant to reassure me
Of your faded miner strike credentials?
Babe,I'm tired of dwelling in the past
Dim the lights and dip into bare essentials
I told you how I tricked your older sister
Hinted at as picnic hamper we undressed
Why linger now on what is post-modern history
Closure I warn you is really for the best
Carrying her image does not prove my misdemeanors
Reckless, gutter images were my only crime
Till I taste your absolution anger is my path of choice
Let's debate self-esteem at another time
Still I need to drag you down and degrade you
Contrast your holy strength with the gravity of my sin
Let sleep alone once the carnal act is done
Want to retreat now to the prison I am in
Supping full of horrors I'll find a late night fix
Junkies don't read the psalms though sometimes they might write them
Penitent thief together let's chant a rebel song
Show me the Nazarene, point out his bloodied hem

This is deep and slightly dark laced with a certain mystery. Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. |
