Forlorn fathers and mothers –
They great us with nonchalant smiles
Hiding quickly their worn out History Books
Underneath their dreary pillows.
Their insipid eyes and taciturn tongues
Desire distance from us.
But when we feed them true love
Volcanoes of silence suddenly erupt
Spewing out torrents of boiling pasts.
Molten lava of loss and neglect and torture
Spill out of their hearts
Unrestrained for a while
And, lastly, a desert calm settles in their eyes
And they philosophically smile again
Content with the present.
And, despite all, when they still
Pray to the Almighty
To forgive their children
To give them a good life
The true beauty of Love unfolds before us.
And finally when it’s time to take leave
They bid farewell with feelings
And keep looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful write. When we are young we tend to forget that someday we will be in the same situation...be good to your elders. They will bless you and pray for good things in your life. Never take advantage of their vulnerability for we never know when we will be in the same situation. |
