Some forty years ago I knew a guy called Seth
He was a heavy drinker and his life was a mess
He had a family of five kids, a wife and a cat
They lived above a candy store in a rundown flat
And though he tried and though he cared
A job he could not find
So Seth would sit for hours, with his cans of beer by his side
He came home to talk to Betty, his wife of fifteen years
He said,'I don't deserve you', then broke down in tears
He cried,'Say goodbye to the kids', his face etched in pain
That was the last Betty saw of him ever again
It was wet and it was cold
It was dark as he lay down on the track
It doesn't matter how you live your life, it should never end like that
His funeral was an occasion
Everyone paid their respects
Seth would have been proud
If only he never had so many regrets
Seth wasn't the brightest man you'll ever meet
But there was something about him that others could never beat
He seemed to care for eveyone and had a heart of gold
Seth, why did you ever let yourself go?
Seth, I guess I will never know

Hi,
A tragic tale of what seems like a guy who had
everything to live for, but presumably blinded by
an alcoholic haze.
Well written.
