a lament on 'time'

Contributed by mehuel on Tuesday, 10th August 2010 @ 09:24:23 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

time needs no other name
its a despot tyrant and stands to its fame

it follows its course much like a river
carving its path through tumults of soil
with wroght with toil, we device we concoct
more stronger we build our dams of thought
but it flows unbridled with no leash atop
all efforts rendered to have it divert
has carved fates and history subvert

but often in its course when it seems on rest
sometimes at peace that spreads to the blessed.
There this calm reveals a placid trait
before the vigour within it starts to hate
repenting with want to ask for forgiveness
feeling restless with nothing to say,
bound by fate with nothing to utter
only confined to the sounds of the pendulum it sways

no emotions no words, no phrases no verse
oh no, not tacit by taste, but thats its curse
still sanguine it seems in its bouyant haste
never to look back, no clairvoyance to chase
just minute on minute, veneered in haze
days on days it rushes ahead
with untiring zeal as its power sublime
everything does stop, not but time...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
