Summer Down the Shore

The summer breeze breathes painfully hot,
upon the lips of the ocean,
while waves do endless cartwheels toward the sand.
Just for a moment, with closed arms,
the clouds shun the sunny weather,
lending loungers a relieving, helping hand.
Meanwhile propped umbrellas mark the beach,
like thumbtacks scattered on a map,
laced with blankets and trailed by shovels and pails.
As a single feather floats,
unphased, above the empty faces,
its frayed, wavering trail leads and catches in the sails.

Awesome write.
Every time I hear of or see a feather it reminds
me of the movie of Forrest Gump.
You painted a beautiful word picture.
blessings,
