These words are all I have left
Like a widow I’m bereft
Of a place, a space in time
Some words in prose, some in rhyme
All this work is left unfinished
The value somehow diminished
Promises just made to be broke
Another scribble you provoke
You can’t see my tears and you won’t
Catch me falling because I don’t
Pick up the pieces off the ground
Dust me off for another round
I’m setting fire to a flame
I’m getting tired of the game
Fighting for breath from the chase
Running but stuck in one place
Struggling to look in the mirror
Disappointment lingers near
I jumped the hoop that you asked
Dug deep into my own past
Breathed life into these deadened thoughts
Well **** you, ‘cause I can’t be bought
Out to sea, that ship has sailed now
The show is over, take a bow.

My favorite part of this is: "I'm setting fire to a flame/ I'm getting tired of the game/ Fighting for breath from the chase/ Running but stuck in place."
Like you're doing all you can, but still have gotten no closer to your goal and you're sick of it.

Sad but very powerful, well written words.
Dust me off for another round
Some times life just seems like one big round, over and over again.
Awesome work.
huggs, blessings,

You have always had a way of dishing things out with a killer flow skill. I don't know what brought you back out of retirement but I hope this is helping.

A very well composed rhyming poem. I especially liked this line:
'I’m setting fire to a flame'
I know the feeling!

These words..........................are just perfect, like a cool breeze on a stifling summer day.
You've managed to knit so many great lines with such skill into a piece that really does work brilliantly.
Time to read it again I think !!!
